The second album of Strange Pop, Michał Dziadosz's solo project, is a journey to the turn of the 1970s and 1980s. Hence the mysterious title "1979-1982". The musician again focused on classic sounds and traditional forms, expanding his workshop to include more spatial, but, on the other hand, harsher sound areas.
Lyrically it's a concept album about breaking toxic relationships.
Musically we can count on a moderate alternative with a large dose of art rock that focus primarily on naturalness. In times when music is becoming more and more artificial, Michał Dziadosz, somewhat brazenly,
refers to solutions from 40-50 years ago, when computer generics were still unavailable and everything the listener got was the result of real skills and an unadulterated spirit. The artist himself emphasizes that he has
no chance of winning the race with quantization and tuning. That’s why he focuses on the unpredictability and danger of live music.
Nowadays modern music sometimes sounds as if it was generated by artificial intelligence. Even complete bands that know how to play often sit in the studio and hone every sound, align drums to bass, tune vocals and add a billion effects. It kills the music! It's a bit like improving beauty in graphics programs. At some point, we will reach a point where there’ll be only one standard of beauty that has nothing to do with truth. Everything starts to sound the same way. I can't control what others do, but I can control myself. So I’ve decided to put an end to it. At least in my backyard. Did you know that modern records are sometimes recorded on 160 tracks?
I’ve limited myself to a maximum of 16. Besides, if something is uneven or out of tune, it was meant to be. This is Strange Pop :)!
The album "1979-1982" features excellent musicians from the following bands: Amarok (Michał Wojtas), Distant Mantra (Kovy Jagliński), Lizard (Daniel Kurtyka), Millenium (Ryszard Kramarski) and Seasonal (Maciej
Sochoń).
Musically the album is a continuation of the debut, but without repeating the patterns. Sometimes, some sounds intentionally refer to "Ten Years Gone", but you can clearly hear that Strange Pop is in the process and
it is constant change that is the basis and key to understanding the idea for these sounds. Lyrically it's a story about breaking up with a bad past and toxic relationships. But not according to the dictates of colorful
magazines.
The basis is a deep entrance into ourselves, finding what really blocks us and decisive departure from destructive patterns. So we have a story about dealing with a toxic parent, the immature "pseudo-friend", about unproductive waiting for a miracle, a real transformation and its not entirely sweet consequences. Finally we reach the moment of breaking the toxic relationship with ... ourselves. It’s a deep, largely personal story in which many of us will find a piece of ourselves.

At last and after a too long time on my wishlist this album has finally been bought ;-)
Clearly recommended to friends of classic Pink Floyd (rather think Wish You Were Here than The Wall or in other words rather think Gilmour/Wright than Waters). Carsten Pieper
If you like later Floyd, this album ist a must have! Especially the first 2 tracks, no Canadian Floyd as somewhere to read, but very athmospheric! prog-rocks
This is progressive rock in the style of the 70’s, which for me, is decidedly not a bad thing. Rick is the composer, producer, and primary performer on vocals, guitars, bass and keyboards, and is joined by others on flutes, cello, additional guitars, violins and percussion. Taking cues from many of that era’s giants, here Rick examines some themes from classic literature. He also visits philosophical questions, the passage of time, destiny and visitations with those who have gone before. Nickie Harte Kelly
